Dearfriends, some gteat news: the RAVE NEW WORLD audiobook has been awarded Silver at the prestigious ARIA Awards - beating Stephen Fry and Alan Partridge.
The Association of Radio Industries Awards (the ARIA’s) are considered the bench mark in spoken word art forms, celebrating the best of radio, podcasts and audiobooks.
“Rave New World: Confessions of a raving reporter” (Bonnier books) has caught the attention of everyone from celebrities including Robbie Williams and Gok Wan MBE, to many top DJs including Fatboy Slim and Carl Cox. Slipmatt listened to it in one sitting, and called me to say he thought it was "awesome". James from EMF and Gok Wan also reached out after listening to it - which is humbling to be honest.
This is extra special as I chose to record it at a small home studio in my home town of Newton Abbot rather than travel to London. Newton Abbot DJ/producer Matthew Ward, who also works as a course director at Deep Blue Sound, Plymouth recorded the audiobook, crafting sound design elements to enhance some passages.
Former Mixmag scribe Anthony Teasdale contributed a track called "3AM in A club in Ibiza' and the audiobook also contains some bonus material - an exclusive interview with a lad who drove KLF around Jura at the 91 solstice Wicker Man rave and my Croatia number 1 hit r4ecord - you have been warned.
Its available on Spotify, Audible and Audiobooks, and anyone who buys it will get a free download of the new chapters too! (which appear when the paperback edition hits the shelves ( more on this in my next newsletter next month).
